Jasmine Damask Rose XL Candle
Night-Blooming Jasmine erupts around the Estate from late spring through fall, with its biggest, most operatic bloom in May and June. We planted it all around the house, especially by the terrace and exterior walls, so that on hot summer nights the scent drifts through the open windows. Sometimes we cut handfuls of branches and hang them over the hot water in the shower, letting the steam coax the fragrance from the flowers until the whole room is swallowed in Jasmine.
That was the inspiration for this candle. The brief was simple: make it smell like Flamingo Estate at 11 p.m.
It is narcotic, floral, and alive. Damask Rose gives the Jasmine a velvety, honeyed softness. Ionian Bergamot adds brightness. Pink Peppercorn brings a little heat. White Sandalwood leaves a warm, skin-like finish.
We made it XL so the room is fully enveloped in its intoxicating scent. It has quietly become one of our most beloved candles, maybe because it feels so transportive — like standing barefoot at the Estate on a hot night, when the garden is in bloom and the whole house is breathing Jasmine.
